The Football Association Challenge Cup, Winners 1946-7, G Hurst Charlton Ath FC
Notes
After losing in the 1946 final, Charlton faced Burnley the next year at Wembley on 26 April 1947 in front of a crowd of 98,215. Just as in the 1946 final the ball burst during the game, possibly due to the poor quality of the balls after World War Two. With defences on top, the game went to extra time and was 6 minutes from going to replay (no penalty shoot outs then) when winger Chris Duffy volleyed home the only goal.
