The Evolution of the Charlton Programme

Part 1: 1019

The Charlton programme has changed over the years but start in 1919, we have just moved to a new enclosure between Charlton Lane and Charlton Church Lane that didn’t yet have a name.

The single sheet from the Kent League local derby v Ordnance on Christmas day is the oldest known Charlton home programme and is one of the prizes of our collection.

We won 8 – 0

It originally belonged to one of the club’s most important players. Scotty Kingsley. It was taken from a box of programmes, contracts, photographs and press cutting that belonged to him and are now held in the museum.

Ordnance played at a ground in Wickham Lane, Plumstead. They changed they name to Woolwich but folded in the 1920s.
